How to Manage Everything as a Single Working Mom?

How to Manage Everything as a Single Working Mom?

Parenting isn’t easy even if you have a partner but as a single parent, difficulty gets multiplied.

As a single working mom, we understand you juggle between work and house which leaves you with no time for yourself. While you may have a different set of priorities for yourself, you will eventually feel tired and there will be a point where you will completely break down. But before that happens, we want you to consider working on the below mentioned points so that you can manage everything and still have time for yourself and your kids by the end of your day.

Have a Morning Routine

Have a Morning Routine

Having a routine is important. By having a morning routine you can complete a lot of tasks even before your kid wakes up and if not that, you can have plenty of time for yourself. Either way it’s a totally win-win situation. Use your morning routine to practice gratitude, meditate, clean your house, prepare breakfast and lunch for yourself and your kid, and get ready for work. It may seem a lot in a very short period of time but once you get a hold of it, it won’t take more than 2 hours to get done with everything you have on your morning to-do list.

Plan Your Month

I believe we all can agree that cooking a meal takes far less time than deciding what we should have for that meal. It is better to plan your meals beforehand. Make a list of everything that you can make easily and your child won’t throw tantrums while eating. Now plan how and when you would want something before you have to repeat the meal. I believe planning every month is better than planning for a week as it gives you more options and time.

Similarly, plan your groceries. You don’t have to purchase groceries every other day. It is better to plan your groceries according to the ingredient list of your meal plan and purchase it accordingly.

Shop Online

Shop Online

Instead of stepping out of your house to buy anything, be it groceries, clothes or even gifts, consider shopping online. It won’t cost you a lot but it will definitely save you time. You can simply order something at your workplace’s address as that is where you must be spending most of your day. Again, it will save you a considerable amount of time and hustle as you won’t have to visit store by store searching for something.

Invest in a Cleaner Place

Cleaning your place everyday and having a clean environment is extremely important for both you and your kid. As a single working mom, I know this is something that you will probably care less about because a lot of people consider it a “man’s job”. If your place has plumbing issues, if your sink is clogging and ruining your closet, if your walls are damp, or if your heater is not working properly, you need to get it fixed. It is your job now and no matter how inexperienced you are in this, you will have to get it done eventually. That does not mean you have to single handedly do everything, call an emergency plumber in Moseley and get everything that needs to be fixed.

Also, if you believe you don’t have enough time to clean your place every day, you can always invest in a little help. Pay someone for your household chores or if your kid is old and can help with chores, ask them for their help.

Ask for Help

Ask for Help

It is never a bad idea to let people know that you are facing difficulty and you may need some help. Be it your family, friends, or someone from the “single moms” community. Trust me there are a lot of single working moms who are struggling as much as you are and they wouldn’t mind helping you in return for a little help from your side as well. Reach out to people and ask them if they can take care of your kid for some time. However, keep in mind that you will also have to help them whenever they would need that because it is a give and take situation.

You can also rent your place or maybe move to some other place on rent where you can share a place with another family or friend and get help with your kid.

Be Present in the Moment

There will be times when you will be at work stressing about your house or kid and there will be times when you will be playing with your kid constantly stressing about your job. Don’t let this happen is all I can say. It is always better to be present in the moment and not stress about something that is going to happen in the near future. This will help you be a better mom and a better employee. When your employer will see you stressing about your kid while being at work, they are certainly not going to see you as an asset.

So, prove that you are an asset at work and a loving, caring mom at home. Because you are a great working mom. And even if you are single, you are not alone, you have your child by your side.
